Almost everyone knows what a wart looks like but not a whole lot of people know what in the world causes them. The HPV or human papillomavirus causes people to get warts. There are about 100 types of the HPV and many of them cause different types of warts that will appear on all different parts of the body. Warts can occur all over the genital area and even further down than that though more often noticed are the ones that form on the hands and feet. A person does not have to display the outward signs of the virus to have it and transmit it so if you are curious to know if you have it then get tested.

When a person see that they have a wart or someone they are close to has one they immediately want to know if it can be passed on to them. Warts can definitely be spread from person to person through contact. Using a towel that someone has rubbed a wart with can allow the virus to transmit to someone else or another part of their body. The best thing to do is not allow anyone to use an object that you have touched your warts with and along the same lines do not touch any other person warts of objects that came into contact with them.

For many types of warts the way to get rid of them is to leave them alone and let them go away on their own. Even the ones that will subside themselves can take many months and even years to disappear but they will go. Some warts will not go away without treatment and it is not really known why some will cure themselves and other will not. Since warts are annoying to most they seek treatment anyway. Treatment is good because the less time you have an exposed art the less chance it gets to spread to other spots or people.
